Glowing Matter

Die Installation Glowing Matter befasst sich mit dem Werkstoff Glas und seiner manuellen Verarbeitung. Anette Rose entwirft ein Ensemble von Glasobjekten, deren Herstellungsprozess sie filmt. Ein besonderes Augenmerk gilt dabei der Synchronizität von Arbeitsabläufen: Zwei Kameras verfolgen die virtuosen Bewegungen von zwei Glasmachern im Umgang mit der fluiden Masse und erfassen die Koordination von Hand, Auge und Mund. Die installative Re-Sychronisierung der Aufnahmen verleiht dem verkörperten Wissen Sichtbarkeit. Die simultan auf mehrere Screens projizierten Bildsequenzen setzen manuelle Fertigkeiten und sinnliche Abstimmungsprozesse zueinander in Beziehung. Ein Interview erschließt die Migration von Arbeitstechniken. In der Installation lenkt Rose den Blick auf den performativen Akt des Glasmachens.

In her installation Glowing Matter, Anette Rose addresses glass as a material and its manual processing. She designed an ensemble of glass objects and filmed its manufacturing process whereby paying special attention to the synchronicity of work processes: Two cameras follow the masterfully executed movements of two glassblowers as they shape the fluid mass, capturing the coordination of hand, eye and mouth. Rose‘s installative re-synchronization of the recordings visualises the knowledge embodied in those movements. The image sequences, projected simultaneously onto multiple screens, place manual skills and coordination processes that engage the senses in relation to each other and tap into the migration of working techniques in an interview. In her installation, Rose directs the viewer‘s attention to the performative act of glassmaking.
