„In der ursprünglichen Produktionslogik spielte der Schraubstock eine große Rolle. Du hast ein Werkstück, spannst es in den Schraubstock ein, holst die verschiedenen Werkzeuge und führst sie an das Werkstück heran. Mit der entsprechenden Kraft bringst du sie in den entsprechenden Winkel und vollziehst den Arbeitsschritt. Da wurde dann geschruppt, gefeilt, gebohrt – und so weiter und so fort. Und der Schraubstock war der ruhende Pohl, um den herum alles stattfand. In der Logik des Tellerroboters ist der Schraubstock das einzig Bewegte, die Maschinen stehen dumm herum und warten darauf, dass ihnen die gebratene Taube ins Maul fliegt. Und das passiert mittels eines maschinell bewegten Schraubstocks.“

“In the original logic of production, the vise played a major role. You have a component, fix it in the vise, take differ- ent tools, and apply them to the component. With appropriate energy, you bring them into the appropriate angle and carry out that step of the work. That is where you planed, filed, drilled, and so on and so forth. And the vise was the fixed point around which everything took place. In the logic of the plate robot, the vise is the only thing movable; the machines stand around idiotically and wait for something to come their way. And that occurs by means of a vise moved by automation.”
